City of San Diego Opens Local Assistance Center for People Impacted by Storm
The operating hours of the City's Local Assistance Center are shifting due to inclement weather. It is currently closed Monday, Feb. 5 and Tuesday, Feb.6. Please see sandiego.gov/storm for the latest updates.
The City of San Diego will open a Local Assistance Center at the
Mountain View Community Center at 641 South Boundary St., San Diego,
CA 92113. City leaders say the center will be open from 10 a.m. to 7
p.m. from Saturday, Feb. 3 through Friday, Feb. 9. Among the City of
San Diego departments providing services are the City Clerk, City
Development Services Department, San Diego Housing Commission and City
Council Offices.
The County of San Diego will also be at the center to provide a variety of services to those impacted by the storms. San Diego County Assessor’s Office will have staff on site to provide for property tax relief for storm damaged homes. County Public Health Services and Behavioral Health Services will be at the center to provide all support and accessibility for physical and mental health needs. County Public Works staff can connect residents in unincorporated areas help with debris removal. And County Department of Environmental Health and Quality workers will provide people impacted by flooding with information on the disposal of household hazardous waste and hazardous materials, food and water safety, vector control, and housing health and safety, including considerations for mold prevention.
The California Department of Insurance, Department of Motor Vehicles, Contractors State License Board, Franchise Tax Board and California Department of Tax and Fee Administration will also be available to help storm victims.
Several non-governmental organizations including 2-1-1, San Diego Gas and Electric, Feeding America and the Red Cross of San Diego and Imperial Counties will offer resources and connections to services.
The County of San Diego recently hosted a local assistance center in Spring Valley from Jan. 28 through Jan. 31, serving more than 1,375 households from across the region.
